Our Beliefs
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired word of God and that human authors were moved by the Spirit to write the words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible, as it appeared in the original manuscripts, is without error.
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost world.
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but through sinful disobedience human nature was corrupted, and we became alienated from that relationship and deserving of God’s righteous judgment. As a result, all people are totally incapable of solving the problem of sin or regaining a right relationship with God by their own efforts.
We believe that, even though every human being is fallen and sinful, God unconditionally loves us and demonstrated His love for us in this: “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
We believe, also, that our redemption has been accomplished solely by the blood of Jesus Christ, who was made to be sin for us, dying in our place; and that no repentance, no feeling, no faith, no good resolutions, no sincere efforts, no submission to the rules and regulations of any church, can add in the very least degree to the value of the blood, or to the merit of the finished work done for us by Christ.
We believe therefore that forgiveness, salvation, redemption and the new birth of the believer come by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
We believe that when someone places that faith in Christ he or she becomes a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17); being justified from all things, accepted before the Father like Christ His Son is accepted, is born again, that Christ is in him or her (Colossians 1:27), that God's Spirit dwells in them (John 14:16-18, John 16), and that they have a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26).
We believe, however, that Christians retain their sin nature, which cannot be eradicated in this life. Therefore, while the standing of a Christian in Christ is perfect, they will still live with the reality of the sinful nature in daily life. As they surrender to God’s grace, His Spirit, and His work in them, they will express and experience the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:13-25) more consistently in their daily lives, living no longer as slaves to sin, but righteousness (Romans 6).
We believe that the church is the body of Christ of which Jesus Christ is the Head. The members are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him, loving those around us, and making Him known to a lost world.
